almost every birth chart calculator stops at the ten planets. the ten planets tell you the weather. they are real, they matter, and they are also the part of your chart that every other site will already have told you.
an asteroid calculator adds the small bodies. those are the ones carrying the parts nobody asks about at a dinner party: what you want, what you hide, what you need in order to stay.

your date, time and city of birth give a moment and a place. from those, the position of every body in the solar system on that day can be worked out to the arcminute. a calculator turns those positions into signs, degrees and houses. that is the whole trick. there is no interpretation in it, and no opinion. it is astronomy, and it is either right or it is wrong.

which asteroids matter most in a natal chart?
41 is a lot to meet at once. start with these, in this order. they carry most of what people arrive looking for.

do you need your exact birth time to calculate asteroids?
for the asteroid signs, no. those come out of the date alone, and they will be the same whether you were born at dawn or at midnight.
the birth time decides the houses, the rising sign, the midheaven, the vertex and the part of fortune. those turn a full degree every four minutes, so a guess is not a small error. if you do not know your time, our calculator leaves those out entirely rather than quietly using noon and presenting the result as though it knew. you still get every sign and every degree.
how to read the output without drowning
- find eros first. read the sign. that is the shape of what you want, before anyone taught you what you were supposed to want.
- then juno. eros is the pull, juno is the staying. people whose eros and juno want opposite things usually already know it and have never had a name for it.
- then lilith. whatever sign it is in, that is the appetite you were taught to apologise for.
- check the tight ones. an aspect under half a degree of orb is a defining feature of the chart, not background. our calculator marks those for you.
- ignore the rest, at first. 41 bodies read all at once is noise. four read properly is a person.
